The Sweetness of Both

The Sweetness of Both explores the unique, multifaceted experience of being bi-racial. Navigating between two worlds, not quite fitting perfectly into either one. Through the use of distortion, light, shadow, and reflection, I depict the multitude of layers regarding the bi-racial experience and portray the feeling of being seen as different. This work highlights both the difficulty and the beauty in possessing traits from two races and the experience of coming into my own. These works serve as a means of self-discovery, aiming to speak to those with shared experiences of identity. I hope to inform those who may not understand what the bi-racial experience is like, and to encourage the viewer to question their perception of themselves and others.
